You may be wondering:

Who, and where, is Grandma?

Grandma is the sweetest in the world. She’s inspired us to not only name our coffee garden after her, but to channel her kindness and welcoming nature into everything we do. She doesn’t make coffee, bake anything, or garden, but she keeps us held together.

She is our two-year-old Dalmatian who makes rare guest appearances at the garden.

Who are you, and how did this happen?

Betsy, Age, and Austin have been cooking up the idea for a garden escape centered around coffee for a few years, and in May, everything came to fruition. Austin’s real estate brokerage was able to expand into the building beside our garden, and as a result, we finally had the perfect adobe-encompassed space.

Our goal is to create something unique, inviting, and unabashedly queer, and we hope you feel the intentionality. Seeing you interacting with the space and one another is an incredible reflection already, and we’re so honored to be a part of creating something beautiful for and alongside our community.

What’s on the horizon?

We plan to have indoor seating in our neighboring building (the real estate brokerage). Before we can open the indoor seating, we will make some needed accessibility changes, expanding the bathroom, widening a few hallways and doorways, and bringing the magic of the garden indoors.

We’re also working to expand our hours and days of operation in the Spring.

Where do we park?

We’re located right on the northeast corner of Girard and Silver, and parking is readily available on Silver Ave, east and west of Girard. There’s also parking on Girard just north of the garden and just south of Silver. Within a block or less in every direction, there is a lot of on-street, free parking. We also have limited off-street parking for folks needing accommodations or shorter distances to the garden.

Will Grandma’s do off-site events?

While we’d love to, currently, our little 1970 Boler camper trailer is a bit too fragile to hit the road easily and regularly. We plan to keep her parked in the garden, but we have some ideas cookin’.

Is there a bathroom?

We have a staff bathroom that we’re happy to provide access to for you. Unfortunately, it is not ADA compliant or accessible at this time, but we’re working on that as a top priority.

Is there Wi-Fi

Yes!

What should I know regarding accessibility?:

Currently, our outdoor garden trailer has some accessibility considerations that we’d like to be up front about:
- The main pathway is currently made of flagstone, wide enough for wheelchair accessibility, but definitely bumpy. It meanders through varying table and seating areas, and leads to other gravel pathways. Motorized chairs have a bit of a hard time navigating the paths, and we have plans to improve the experience for various accessibility considerations in the near and far future. The garden you see today is an iteration of what it will be in the future, but the future is centered around improving accessibility where possible.
- We’ve recently added eight 500 pound rated metal chairs to the garden (located at four tables sprinkled throughout the garden).
